Djarot Inaugurates Walang Baru Market

Jakarta Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat inaugurates Walang Baru Market, Rawa Badak Selatan, Koja, North Jakarta, Thursday (8/23). The market construction has been done since 2016.

He mentioned Walang Baru Market recent condition is clean and very beautiful. He instructed merchants to maintain its cleanliness and enliven the new market. Moreover it is located in residential and there is RPTRA and puskesmas (health center) behind it.

"Walang Baru Market is in very good condition, everything is still new. Its merchants should have new mentality as well, which can maintain and enliven this market," he said.

Now, traditional market must meet national standard. It must have adequate facilities and infrastructures. Such as nursing room, clean toilet, mini puskesmas, fire post, and safety equipment.

"Market should be also integrated with other activities. Such as sport facilities, entertainment, and mini jak grosir," he added.

Meanwhile, PD. Pasar Jaya President Director informed, Walang Baru Market has 2,728 square meters wide. This market can accommodate 181 stalls and 114 merchants.

"Similar market revitalization will be conducted continuously on other infeasible market buildings. Included for market that can not accommodate merchant anymore," he stated.

According to him, Walang Baru Market is one of 16 traditional markets whose construction is completed in 2017. This market has been equipped with various facilities, such as sport facility, food court, family karaoke, and others.

"We will make fence for entrance from its side. But it reserves only for pedestrian, not motor. This is for our safety," he closed.
